"TELL THE BISHOP. I. AM. WAITING."
Hello hello!! This week was pretty crazy. Missions are weird. And so full of miracles.
MILAGRITOS:
- We got to have a looooonnngg talk with our fruit stand friend, Camilo! He told us about all his beliefs, and we talked about ours, and he wasnt actually too interested until we pulled out the Book of Mormon and he said "where can I get one of those i would love to read that". So we did our fave missionary thing and said "its a gift, just for you". So now hes reading it! Woo woo! Go Camilo!
- We had exchanges, so I got to hang out with Hna Serre for a day. It was way fun and shes way cool. We were walking down the street and we walked past a man standing in his doorway and said "hola" and kept walking, since we were in a bit of a hurry, and he said "hermanas! do you have a book of mormon you can give me?" and you best believe we did a U turn so fast. And we talked to him and he said he was a member but hadnt gone to church in years and years. His family was all super involved in the church when he was a kid and then he grew up and life got in the way and he stopped going. but now we get to talk to him all the time and hes reading the book of mormon at lightning speed. yay for pablo!
- We had a friend who needed a priesthood blessing, and we were able to find someone who could give her one. That might not be a miracle to most people, but considering the effort we put in to find someone who could get to their house and give them a blessing, on the time crunch we were on, it was probably the biggest miracle of the week. I am grateful for the priesthood. The real, living, power of God on the earth. We take that for granted sometimes. What a cool opportunity we have to have such a tangible reminder of Gods love every day.
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAs of the week:
- To be honest i cannot remember most of the things that happened this week, let alone the funny stuff. But we have a member whos a super old lady who lives forever away. We called her and although we text and call her all the time, she didnt have any clue who we were. BUT she did tell us that the bishop once told her that he was gonna come to her house and drink mate (a drink they have here) and talk. But as she was talking we realized that she was talking about the previous bishop of the ward, and our current bishop has been in his calling for several years now. So she couldnt remember us missionaries, but her last words to us were "TELLLL THE BISHOPPP THAT I AM WAITINGGGGG" (for context her voice sounds like the "im watching you mike wasowski, always watching" lady in monsters inc.) so that made us laugh hard. Someone should probably let the bishop know that shes waiting. poor mirta.
SHPIRITUAL SHPEEL:
This week was a testament to me that the Lord needs each and every person to help in this great work. There is not a single person that the Lord doesnt need to help Him. So first off, dont feel like youre not helpful. Dont feel useless. Dont feel like you arent loved. Because you are helpful. More than you know. God needs you in this world and with your family and with your friends and exactly where you are right now. And God loves you. More than youll ever know. At least in this life. So keep on trusting. And if its hard to feel Gods love right now, look around for signs that there are other people that love you. Because it is through other people the God so often shares His love. Second off, this means that if God asks you to do something, do it. You are needed in this work. But if youre not gonna do it, if youre not gonna help Him, then how can He trust you to ask you to do something again? How can He help His other kids, the ones who are struggling, if He cant trust you to help them for Him? So when someone asks you to help them, help them. When someone asks you to help someone else, help that other person. If you have the thought to help someone else, help them. If God tells you to help someone, just help them. Because you are loved. So much. Individually. Infinitely. Unconditionally. No matter what. That love will never, ever, not ever go away, no matter what you do. God is a God of love, He doesnt pick and choose His favorites. He loves YOU. But to be honest, God has different levels of trust with each of His kids. Some He can trust to love everyone, some He can trust to be obedient, some He can trust to have a positive attitude, and so on. So let God love you, (PS He already does) but let Him trust you. Work on listening to Him, obeying Him, learning about Him, and loving the heck out of His other kids. Thats all.
Love you all!!! Chau chau!
