 He's hugging me!!!

Such a good week!! If I'm being honest, we can't remember anything that happened this week. It was full of miracles and laughs and the spirit, but what those things were? We don't know. So this is as much as I got.

MILAGRITOS:
  • We were able to visit a sweet lady this week, who's an absolute firecracker. She talks to us in like half speed and SO loud so that we can understand her, even though at this point we can understand Spanish pretty well, so it's just comical to listen to her speaking SO slow for us. She apparently hasn't been visited by missionaries in YEARS (mostly cause she lives in the middle of nowhere in a really bougie house) and so that was super fun that we got to find her.
  • We visited another old lady named Teresa, who is oh so sweet. We found her a couple weeks ago on accident, and it couldn't have been more perfect timing. We visited her again this week and we walked up to her house and she just started crying and telling us she knew she knew that we were gonna come today cause she just prayed and prayed that we would. And there we were. So yay for God and miracles!

JAJAJAJAJAJAJAs of the week:
  • Hna Gentry put the phone with a rubber case on the stove. Turned on. So now we have a junky phone case ahahah and you best believe it's my favorite phone case I've ever had.
  • We were walking down the street and in like two minutes we saw our empanada delivery man rolling past on his moto to deliver empanadas to someone else (traitor) and he honked at us and waved very enthusiastically, and then a bunch of the kids that come to English class came up to us and said HELLO!! In English and it was adorable.
  • We went to Montevideo so I can be a legal immigrant (which I may or may not be right now) and we sat outside a building and talked to other missionaries for like 2 hours and then I got fingerprinted in less than two seconds and then we headed home. But the assistants bought us hamburgers so that was awesome.
  • Our good friend Isabel has a couple of guinea pigs that were born this week, so we got to hold them. She didn't have names for either of the new ones so I offered to name them Hermana Gentry and Hermana Allen and she thought it was the funniest thing she's ever heard, so now she has two guinea pigs named Hermana Gentry and Hermana Allen. Bet you can't say you have a guinea pig who lives in Uruguay named after you.

SHPIRITUAL SHPEEL:

God is a God of promises. He makes promises with us every day. Big promises like covenants, little promises like "if you have faith I will bless you". (That one's actually a huge promise, but a pretty simple one) He's made promises with His people since the first day on this earth (even before that actually). And He has (or He will) kept each and every one of His promises. Every single one. He doesn't lose track, no matter how many He makes. But how does He keep all those promises? How does He offer comfort to a person with a really big trial? A friend to a person who's lonely? Joy to a person who's depressed? Peace to the soul of a human who is really stressed or anxious? As the scripture in D&C 1:38 says, "What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same." I have always thought about that scripture like, God and His servants (prophets and apostles) can make the promises, and it is the same. And yes. That does apply. But aren't we all His servants? And doesn't it make sense that His promises can be fulfilled through His voice or the voice of His servant (you)? Sometimes God fulfills His promises by speaking directly to us, by changing hearts and giving internal peace. But more often than not, it's through other people that come into our lives and make us better, bring us joy, and fulfill the Lord's promises through their actions. SO! What if we become those "other people"? What if we become God's promise keepers? What a cool title that is, no? You. God's promise keeper. As you are serving, loving, giving, sharing, comforting, YOU are keeping God's promises. WHAT A PRIVILEGE! So go out there, and look for who in your life are God's promise keepers for you, and then go become a promise keeper for someone else. Help them to feel His love. Help them to feel His joy. Help them to see the good in the world. Help them to find peace. Help them to really know that there IS a God. That HE loves them. That HE cares about them. That HE will do anything and everything to keep His promises. And that HE will use YOU in mighty and marvelous ways to love and care for and keep His promises with all His other kids too.

Love you all!! Have SUCH a good week!!
