Book of Mormons!! On AMAZON!!

Hi all!! Two weeks down in the CCM! I’m still having a blast and this week flew by for some reason even though i’m staring at my computer 8 hours a day.

The biggest news of the week is on Tuesday, I got my reassignment! Because Uruguay's borders aren't open yet, I was waiting on where I would get my second mission call to. And on Tuesday it came! I'll be serving in the WASHINGTON DC NORTH MISSION!!! I am so excited, and here are some answers to your questions. I have no idea when I will get to Uruguay, it could be after one transfer, or I could never get there. Yes I'm in the boundaries of the temple and I could serve in the visitors center at any time or the light festival in December, but I'll definitely serve at the temple open house from April-June IF I am still there. I don't have directions on if I am speaking English or Spanish, but my understanding is I am supposed to use Spanish when I can, but there will still be English often. I am so excited and already love the people of Washington DC, and I go back and forth between wanting to stay in Washington DC, and wanting to get to Uruguay soon, but as my mom said, it's a good thing that it's not up to me.

Yesterday was the last day with my morning teacher, Hermana Gonzalez. Super sad about that, because I loved her, she is so fun and an amazing teacher, even at 8am. So we will see how my new teacher is tomorrow! Crossed fingers they are good and are ready for the chaos of our district! Anyway, not a lot is different day to day again, so here’s some funny moments and milagritos.

Funny Moments:

  • Hermano Martinez (our afternoon teacher) when he can’t understand something, he says “my brain is broken”. It’s my favorite thing.
  • I had mentoring with Hermano Martinez on Friday (just one on one time for the teacher to make sure you’re not absolutely falling miserably behind in class) and I was showing him something in my Book of Mormon (I have one of those journal kinds with a cute cover and space on the margins to write stuff) and he was in shock, he was asking me all these questions. I don’t think he’s ever seen a Book of Mormon that wasn’t the standard little black or blue one. And he said he wished they had one in Spanish so I ran across the room and grabbed the Spanish one I have, and he was so unbelievably excited, he couldn’t stop laughing. And then he said, “I wish I could have one in Mexico” and I was like well I got it on amazon so you might be able to! and he was flabbergasted (that’s the only word to describe his face) so he immediately starts typing on his computer to get to amazon and he literally cannot believe you can buy a book of mormon on amazon. it took him like 5 minutes to get back to actual teaching because he was just laughing and so excited. He just kept saying “a Book of Mormon. On amazon!” and so now me and Hermano Martinez are gonna have matching Libro de Mormons. I’m very excited, it literally made my whole week.
  • Elder Memmott in my district since day one, every four seconds has said "sí sí sí!!" instead of just one simple "sí"or just "yeah". Anyway we've all caught on to it, and every "will you read this scripture?" is answered with "sí sí sí!!"
  • My morning teacher (the one who left) says salad every two seconds. It's become a joke between me and Hermana Utley every time she says salad, we laugh our heads off. It's like, "we're going to turn to this page and read this, salad?" (turns out she's saying salé and not salad but in our defense it sure sounds like salad and that won't stop us from saying salad)

Milagritos (mini miracles):

  • Still, the gift of tongues is unreal. And it's real. But it's amazing to me. Each day doesn't feel like I've learned a lot, but looking back I speak Spanish so much better than I did last week and two days ago and the day before that. I have memorized so many phrases some of them get stuck in my head. It's kinda annoying, when "tienes entido?" is repeating in my head every four seconds but at least I'll never forget how to say "do you understand?"
  • I am super grateful how the Lord uses our talents to bless others. I find that teaching the gospel is the most fun, and we do it best when we play to our strengths, because the Lord has blessed us with those talents for a reason!

Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY today to my future mission companion! Happy birthday Katherine, I can't wait to hang out in Uruguay! (If you know her, make sure and tell she's amazing. Cause she is.) Thank you all for the constant support! Love you all!
